This last weekend we had our 2nd annual Camp Paradise Work-A-Thon. It was wonderful! We had 16 people serving with us and 4 children. There were also two other groups working at the camp that weekend. As a whole, we racked around the dinning hall, dorms, and cabins; tore out rotten stairs and rebuilt them to one of the dorms; hung mirrors in the dorms; did a little painting in the chapel; painted the dinning hall deck; and cleared the cabins of any rotten and falling apart mattresses. Though we had less people this year, I believe we raised more funds for the ministry. We don’t have a number to give you yet, people are still getting their sponsors together.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, prayed for us and financially supported us.

The Serve Partnerships Unlimited Work-A-Thon is in just two short days. We will be taking a group of people to a church camp called Camp Paradise, located north of Marysville. This is a fundraiser to help with the cost of our Serve Partnerships Week during the summer. We give the students, families and small groups that are working with us a chance to get people to sponsor them for the eight hours we will be working.
We will be raking the grounds, painting, building stairs, putting steps in the side of the hill that lead from the cabins to the camp ground, and some plumbing. (If we get a plumber to join us.)

We will have a new Fireworks Booth location this year. Rob and I will be running a booth near Bradshaw and HWY 50. It’s on Bradshaw just south of 50 in the Food Source parking lot. Come say hello, get a balloon animal and support Serve Partnerships Unlimited. We also need help manning the booth. If your 18 or older, we’d love to have you volunteer.

Love INC National Conference
Rob and I joined the staff of Love INC (Love in the Name of Christ) for their national conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota April 28 - May 1. We had a great time and were able to learn a great deal about Love INC, who we are partnered with.

We had a wonderful Serve Partnerships Week in all of our locations. It was a crazy week with so many things going on, and time slipped right through my fingers. I would like to apologize for not keeping current with this journal, but we are in the process of updating it. We also hope to continue to use this weekly or bi-weekly to keep you posted on what the Lord is doing for the upcoming summer months.
In His Service,
Wendy Bryan

Took children and families from Roseville to the Sacramento Zoo today. Due to God’s favor, we have been able to take several hundred people to the Zoo and another amusement park called “Funderland” at no charge to those attending. This allows us a lot of time with these folks to get to know them and have a good time. I wish we had more time with the children in the community. At this point there isn’t a central place to connect with them unless there is an event of some kind. Even then, they don’t always make it. The students are learning about taking initiative. We have really impressed upon them how powerful their relationships and influence can be on the lives of children. I think the adults on our team have learned a lot too and been encouraged by the feedback we are getting. One setback, poor church participation as a whole. People still see this a “youth event” as opposed to a church reaching out to it’s community… We still have lots of work to do in this area. (yep, that’s a prayer request…)

Our schedule was very similar to Monday except that we were able to host Roseville and have our evening worship and testimony and time with them. The Roseville team is mostly suburban folks, so the mix is very good for all of us. Each of the pastors there (there were three of us) shared from our hearts as well. I spoke on “Legacy” relating how one’s perspective on what they are doing can have a huge impact on what kind of legacy they leave. The intentionality of what we do is a key in leaving a Godly legacy. It was easy to use the pastors as examples as they each had sacrificed much to answer God’s Call, yet they were fulfilled and leaving a legacy that would outlast them. Good stuff. John Perez called today to tell us that they have had about 25 decisions for Christ in the McFarland and Delano communities! Praise God!

After “quiet time” alone, we all came back together this morning for small groups and “The Word for Today”. Each day we have a verse that we study and apply (It is very predictable now which verses are needed on which days of the week…). Victory Tabernacle’s food ministry (50,000 lbs. of food a week distributed) has provided us with a lot of food. Our community projects went well and after some team building activities, we prepared for Kid’s Club. It went well once more with a student testimony and more children attending. Each day the trust and response of those who come gets better. I was also able to visit Roseville right after “Kid’s Club” and touch base with them. They mentioned feeling a “heaviness” or “oppression” that they had not felt when we were there before. Our evening worship and testimony time is always a good way to end our day.

(From Rob, Director of Serve Partnerships Unlimited)
After a good day on Saturday of getting out into the community and passing out flyers of the week’s activities to people, this morning we attended the morning worship service at Del Paso Church of God and the evening service at Victory Tabernacle. Both churches are multi-cultural and it was wonderful to meet the people and see how encouraged they were with what was going on in AND through their churches. We spent some time training our team of 14 students and 5 adults in how to share the Gospel in a relational and non-threatening way using our “Breaking Down the Wall of Sin” booklet and preparing our “Kid’s Club” ministry. We held our first Kid’s Club right before the evening service at Victory. It was probably the best “first night” Kid’s Club I have ever seen. The students mixed great music with a puppet drama and a very clear testimony from Tommy, one of our student leaders. Special Highlight: We matched all of our students and adults individually from our two local teams and the two teams from Delano and McFarland so that each team member had a person they were praying for and that was praying for them.
